Greater Good BBQ - Atlanta, GA (Roswell Road)
Some say close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, but maybe we can add BBQ to that list. The Greater Good is ooooooooh so close to knocking it out of the ballpark. The pork today was on the verge of being perfect with the big exception of some huge hunks of fat that should have been pulled off in the kitchen; however, the burnt ends were worth writing home about. Their stew has potatoes, so that is a big No No, but the chili is incredibly strong. Truly, all the sides, with the exception of the stew, have been fantastic. This place is a must visit.
I feel hipper and actually pretty cool just walking in this joint. The tatted and pierced wait staff take about 20 years off my age and make me forget that I am wearing my business casual uniform. It helps that they don't have any mirrors.
Today, I was eating with my Pops. He is an old school BBQ aficionado, so his opinion of the Q holds some weight with me. I was leaning towards a 4 out of 5, but Pops brought it back to just a solid three. If it is a 3, it is the strongest 3 in town.
